William, that's correct, the company will have an address that the students use for a temporary residency. Then later the company will route you home so you can transfer your CDL to your home state. There are a few states that are balking at this practice, concerned they are missing out on all important revenues, but the great state of Texas is not one of them.

I'm moving back to Texas after retiring from the Navy. If I go with a company whose training is in another state, I understand I would have to get that state's license. How would it work without having a residence in that state? Would I just use the company's address or get a PO box? It should be simple enough to switch it back Texas when I get the chance.
