CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Go online and apply to several companies. You may have as much of a problem with the home state being Florida. That's about all can suggest without knowing details of exactly how many incidents and what they were.

You may have to go thru training again but im sure there are lots of companies. If it was in a parking lot its a non dot incident and shouldnt come up on your mvr. I can say to try my company WEL Companies out of DePere WI. They are a pretty forgiving company. Not saying they will hire u but its worth a go. EPES in NC hires with 3 months. Just be honest. Im sure you can get past this.

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

MVR:

Motor Vehicle Record

An MVR is a report of your driving history, as reported from your state Department of Motor Vehicles. Information on this report may include Drivers License information, point history, violations, convictions, and license status on your driving record.

We have an excellent listing of truck driving jobs and you can apply for all truck driving jobs with one application so it saves a bunch of time.

Just apply like crazy to all of them and see what they say. And make sure you call them after a day or two. Don't just sit around waiting for them to call you. Most of the applications will just sit on a pile collecting dust.
