Hey neighbor, I'm right across the CT border in Southwick MA. Welcome to TT! :)
I live in and got my permit in Ohio, but my company sent me to a school in Wisconsin. I took my cdl test there as well. There werent any problems for me, I just had to transfer the license over to my home state when I got back. It was a little annoying having to pay license fees two times, but the process went smoothly

I start school in a week. I thought of paying to rent a truck for the road test but finding any company to take you without school is all but impossible.
I have my permit, I paid for a physical from a DOT certified physician, drug screen etc. so all of that cost money. I haven't had a ticket in 13 year, BMV printed my history and the paper was blank (No points) No felonies no misdemeanors etc no dui's My question: Should I pay for the HAZMAT background? A T.W.I.C. card…..and a passport? It sounds logical as it might make me more desirable as an a potential driver but, is it worth it? I know allot of companies can and do haul to Canada/Mexico and the thought of that really appeals to me. So is that extra money worth it?
Explosive, flammable, poisonous or otherwise potentially dangerous cargo. Large amounts of especially hazardous cargo are required to be placarded under HAZMAT regulations
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
The state agency that handles everything related to your driver's licences, including testing, issuance, transfers, and revocation.

Wait to do those extra cost things. Many companies will cover the cost for their drivers.

Jerry, if you have a CDL permit, a DOT physical and are at least 21 (with clean driving & drug records) many companies are in love with you all ready. Trust me.

So in the state of Connecticut they allow you to get your CDL from a 3rd party (different state)

I got all the endorsements, tanker, doubles and hazmat when I got my cdl , never have regretted it. It didn't cost that much and I felt I was a step ahead of those who waited. my 2cp. I went to work immediately using my hazmat hauling fuel for a construction company.

Refers to pulling two trailers at the same time, otherwise known as "pups" or "pup trailers" because they're only about 28 feet long. However there are some states that allow doubles that are each 48 feet in length.

Good evening all, so I'm about to take my medical and the get my "permit" within the state of Connecticut. I reached out to a few sponsored schools which said and quote "if I train with us you will take your road test and get your CDL with us" be advised these schools are not within Connecticut. I was also told a new law started in 12/15 that allowed 3rd parties to test. Please enlighten me with any and all information you have before I head out
