Yousaid thatta you were okay working for a couple of weeks if you got at least 3 days at home, right? The regular roehl hometime policy is 11-14 days out earns you 3 days at home. Now they also have the hometime fleets, but as RV said, that might not be available in your area. You have to live within a certain distance of a dropyard. RV was told they don't do hometime fleets out of the yard nearest her, I'm not sure why, so you will have to call and ask what/if they have available extended hometime options.

(RV, did they say why? The only theory I can come up with is that is not a secure yard so maybe they aren't comfortable leaving trucks there unattended for a week at a time. Most yards have a locked gate that you need your company id/gate pass to get in, but if I remember correctyly Springfield was just open. Darlington is also open though and I think they do hometime out of there....no idea).

Schneider I've heard also offeres extended hometime options, but they don't advertise it as much as Roehl so it may be a little more limited in availability. You will most likely still need to live near a Schneider facility and as with Roehl you will just have to call them to see what is available. I don't know much about Werner's hometime policies.

If you're OTR with Schneider you typically take the the truck home. You don't necessarily have to live close to a SNI facility.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

You take the truck home even in the extended hometime fleets. On their jobs page I found a 7/7 listing which I just assumed would be a slip seat position. I dont work for them though so I may be wrong. I will defer to you

The first sentence is supposed to be a question. I read they had part time positions and I am wondering how that works if you take the truck home with you.

Hrynn, so you're saying Roehls has a drop yard in Spfld? I'll call again and ask. Springfield is not a safe city tho...lol

They do have a yard. It is shared with another company. They may not hire out of there, I was just wondering if they gave you a reason

William P. I'll add my two cents. I run a dedicated account for Roehl out of Winchester Va. . We travel in and around the Centreville area quite a bit. I'm positive it wouldn't be a problem for Roehl to get you home. As far as hometime, I either stay out for two weeks or go home each week. It depends on what I have going on. I just let me dispatcher know. My default is to be home each week for my reset. I live about 23 miles south of Albany NY.

Everything else is ditto what Nate says. Good luck.

Dispatcher:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Roehls drop yard in Springfield is not secured and the last time I was there it had two empty trailers and a couple of bobtail. I think given a preference Roehl is sending the freight to Bensalem Pa...which is secured with a gate guard. The last couple of relays I pulled out of Maine went to Bensalem. Just my thoughts.

Bobtail:

"Bobtailing" means you are driving a tractor without a trailer attached.

No. Sorry. Extended home times no. I apologize for that.
