Swift At It Again

A Swift driver knocks over a hydrant. He then gets out of the rig and tries to put the hydrant back on. He even covers it with some dirt to make sure it’s as good as new.

I'd say it's more about the trucker being a bit out of whack, rather than the Swift company...lol

Not me! I drive a grey KW.

BTW, I've seen busted hydrants. That should have been a gusher coming out of the pipe!

@ Errol is explained why it didn't in the comments. It's a dry hydrant, something they install in colder states because if it was under pressure the water could freeze and be of no use. With the dry ones the water level is below ground enough that it won't freeze and the valve to turn it on is connected to the hydrant which then goes down to the water level.

I don't know if all new ones are like this or if it's just a northern states thing since their pipes freeze in the winter. In today's times even southern states freeze so I would think it would be all of them now. Of course if you have old ones then you might still get the undercarriage wash experience.

Yeah, I grew up/lived in LA, Calif. where it only snows in the mountains. Didn't think of the frost proof situation. But, I got my car washed once by a busted hydrant! (No, I didn't hit that one, either!)

Wow and he had a lot more room to swing it wide and button hook and miss it completely.

Could have been a person or a baby in a stroller, luckily it was just a fire hydrant.

what if that hydrant is needed to put out a fire in a building with a baby in it!!! now it's a broken hydrant and a burning baby! oh noes!!!

When I was in school I always joked that the cones were children.... run all of them over!!!!! just kidding about that last part. but don't get it in your head that they're JUST cones.... think of them as living things and you'll be less inclined to want to run them over... usually. same applies to the fire hydrant, yeah it's not a living thing but it's still important and it could have gotten hooked up on something under the trailer... like the air lines...

Does anyone else wonder if swift corp employees ever regret having such a large fleet? it's because of that that they are recognized so much for incidents simply due to laws of averages and while they're making more money the dark smudge on their name gets darker and darker every day. One of those double edge swords... yeah we make more money but more people hate us or make fun of us... I don't think it's the quality of training for the most part I think it's more the trainees not paying attention when they need to. What do I know though I'm just a rookie waiting on a trainer :)
