I have been driving OTR for almost 2 years. I want something local where I can be home every night. I have a perfect CSA score. Want something solo as well. Want to be making 1200-2000 per week after taxes and am looking in Maryland but I have looked online and see no one that offers that much, but I know there are jobs out there that pay that much. I just don't know where to look or find them? Can someone please give me some advice and tell me how and where I can find a job like this? Thanx

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

CSA:

Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA)

The CSA is a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) initiative to improve large truck and bus safety and ultimately reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities that are related to commercial motor vehicle

Per Diem:

Getting paid per diem means getting a portion of your salary paid to you without taxes taken out. It's technically classified as a meal and expense reimbursement.

Truck drivers and others who travel for a living get large tax deductions for meal expenses. The Government set up per diem pay as a way to reimburse some of the taxes you pay with each paycheck instead of making you wait until tax filing season.

Getting per diem pay means a driver will get a larger paycheck each week but a smaller tax return at tax time.

We have a ton of information on our wiki page on per diem pay

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

Welcome aboard Jeremy.

You'd like to be home every night and make 1200-2000 after taxes??? That would mean you're making about $75,000-$135,000 a year. I'm pretty sure there's 3.5 million drivers across the U.S. that would love that kind of money but I don't know what the odds are of finding something like that.

I would think jobs that pay that much aren't going to advertise much. They'll have a list of applicants 3 years deep and they'll likely only hire people referred to them by current drivers. In other words, you'd have to know someone on the inside.

We have an excellent listing of Truck Driving Jobs and you can even Apply To All Truck Driving Jobs With One Application. I don't know if you'll find anything like that or not but it can't hurt to look.

Jeremy. I don't mean to ask a personal question. But wanting that kind of money local and you have been OTR for 2 years.

What kind of money are you making OTR?

And if you are making that kind of money, please tell us what company you are working for. I think many drivers would be interested in finding a job that pays that kind of money.

Keep it safe out there. Joe S
