Oh and they will hire from long distances away from the terminals. Most of us xpress terminals are on eastern half of usa but they got two or 3 on west coast. actually had a person in my orientation from california.

They also have dedicated accounts too and from my understanding as long as you live within the required distance for them you can get on with no exp... additional training required though.

don't know what part of OK you live in (think you said OK) but they have a dedicated account in Bentonville, AR with walmart, Target in Denton, TX and a walmart in Terrell, TX

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Dont be surprised if whatever it was you wont say that disqualified you from Knight, disqualifies you from other companies as well, they all have very similar policies. Some other companies are MVT, Melton, Conway, JB Hunt, Schneider .

Phil

So far none of the 8 other companies I applied to have cared. Knight has their own unique policies. Their average class size is 5 people.

MVT does not have a school. Melton does not have a school. Con-way/XPO I mentioned that I have already contacted them. Waiting to hear back from recruiter tomorrow. JB Hunt does not have a school. Schneider does not allow pets.

You missed US Xpress

US Xpress does not have their own school.

Again, I am looking for Company School, Pet Policy, and Hires from AZ. If anyone knows a company that fits those 3 requirements that has not been mentioned I would welcome the suggestions.

Try May Trucking Company. They have a western 11 division and a great pet policy. They are my number one pick as long as they have a trainer available when I'm done with school.

May does not have its own school.

Jim Palmer and Wil-Trans

Wil-Trans:

Darrel Wilson bought his first tractor in 1980 at age 20, but, being too young to meet OTR age requirements, he leased the truck out and hired a driver.

Through growth and acquisition, Wil-Trans now employs over 200 drivers, and has a long-standing partnership with Prime, Inc. to haul their refrigerated freight. The family of businesses also includes Jim Palmer Trucking and O & S Trucking.

Try Henderson Trucking out of caseyville, Illinois/Salem, Illinois. They definitely allow pets. I drive for them. I get good miles and have given me everything that they said they would. You get your own room during training with a kitchenette, $$ for groceries and other expenses. You may have to find a temporary home for your pet once you go out with your trainer.

I talked to another Prime Recruiter and the issue is not that I need to live close to Salt Lake City, I just live too far from Phoenix. So all I have to do is move my legal residence back to Phoenix, which is no big deal. Right now I'm just waiting to hear back from the person I'm planning on using as my new residence. Then I just have to go online and enter a change of address for my Drivers License and let Prime know I'm ready to go.

Thanks to all who offered suggestions, and especially to those who recommended I contact a different recruiter at Prime. Old Salty Dog - I did try Julie first but she is out of the office for a bit, so I just called back on the general number and it was all taken care of.
