The 8 GB card is good for bout 3 hours at 720P resolution. I looks like it can take up to a 32 GB card.
It really depends on how much you want to keep. If you just want it to be able to record incidents, the 8 gig is just fine with the looping as it will keep overwriting the oldest files. It will automatically lock a file do it can't be deleted if it detects an event. If you want to be able to save the entire day's driving, you will need a bigger one.
I have the same dash cam. I put 32G card in mine and with 30 frames per second at 1920 x 1080 resolution, It will only record about 4.5 hours of video and sound before it loops back over. Also, I turned off the shock setting to that it would stop protecting files. Trucks ride rough, and it thinks it's in a crash all the time.
These things are on my required equipment list for driving. They can really save you from problems of proof.

Thanks! I see they have cards up to 128gb so most likely I will need 64gig or more to record my 10 hour day. Thanks!

I've got the Cobra CDR 840 dash cam too. The max size for the MicroSD card is 32gb, which is what I have. I also recommended adjusting the g-shock settings. Otherwise, normal bumps in the road set the thing off.

So I got a cobra 1080p FHD dash cam and it came with an 8 gig mini sd card, which I am guessing is maybe too small? How big of an SD card would I want to be able to record a whole 10 hour day or so? Or is the 8 gig big enough with the looping?
