Yeah, it's kind of odd but there's not a lot of flat bed work coming out of or into Des Moines, or Iowa even.

Ok, for anyone who is interested. I have started a day to day running log of sorts under the CDL Training Diaries section. This is intended to give anyone interested in TMC a running first hand experience of the orientation experience, and what goes on. It's not full of whining or complaints, just the facts and helpful tips. Check it out if you'd like, it's a work in progress.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.
