Got a call from ROEHL to attend their training and hire on with them. Nervous.. should I take it or look at other companies further?

That would have to be your decision alone. I have heard though that Roehl is a very good company to work for.

Time to do some research then. Call the companies find out all you can from the recruiter, just remember not everything they say is correct. Go to truck stops and find drivers who work for those companies and chat with them. Before you know it you'll know which company suits you better.

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

I just finished my first 8 days with Roehl. 1st time driver fresh out of CDL school. Really good equipment. Safety is their main concern. Seems like a good company so far.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

What division are you driving. Refer, dry van , flatbed. Roehl is number one on my list if I can pull it off. Working on funding for school right now. Recruiter said I would be driving flatbed which is exactly what I want to do. They also have western regional which is a HUGE plus for me.

Good luck and keep us posted. I'm very interested to hear what you have to say about your experiences with them.

Regional:

Regional Route

Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.

Dry Van:

A trailer or truck that that requires no special attention, such as refrigeration, that hauls regular palletted, boxed, or floor-loaded freight. The most common type of trailer in trucking.
