Steven dekter. I'm his first and probably last student. He says he can teach me to drive but not necessarily 'by the book'. So I ask a question and sometimes he's not sure the answer he gives me is 'correct'. At the momnt I'm stressing on the pretrip. Its a lot to memorize and he isn't sure on some stuff. I don't know what the pieces are to begin planning on how to memorize the words. Its tough. If I'm not progressing after a week I may consider trying to get another trainer. I don't know

Hmmm. Thats a bit worrying. How did he become a trainer if he doesnt know how to train "by the book"?? Dont stress yourself on the PTI. go back to the study guide on here.

I think his training was similar to my training in that there wasn't much of it. He also said that a lot of it was him and the other drivers sitting around b.s' ing. I went back and looked over the flashcards here on the site. That helped relax me and make me a bit more comfortable.

Glad to hear it..are you talking with any of the other guys there? Are they having the same issues as you?? I find it helps to have a little pow wow and find out what kinds of things other guys/gals are having trouble with or are doing well with..the whole strengths vs. weakness thing..find other people that are finding what you find easy, hard and vice versa, then help each other out..teamwork can solve a lot more problems than one person by themselves..

I really appreciate the day to day updates. I'm looking at trucking as a career change for myself and am looking to dispel any preconceived ideas I have about the industry before making the leap.
