Sorry not a fan. Once employed I don't want every Tom **** and Harry calling me texting me or emailing me. I already have a junk file a mile long. I don't want to add to it. When i decide to change I'm sure I would be able to contact my dream company.

That's cool. I know there will be people that don't want to be contacted so the option to apply to individual companies will still remain.

If there were an option to file our application in a "closed" folder, once employed, and then reactivate when needed, that would work, too.

Absolutely we can do that. We can allow you to make your application available to new opportunities or keep it private. You would be able to change that status back and forth anytime.

First, I thought the application went out to "everybody" already. When I punched the send button, the independent recruiter called me! (As well as several other recruiters.)

As for an "OFF" switch, my teacher job board had that. When you're looking, you turn it on, when you have a job you turn it off.

We do currently have that option. You can send it to one company or as many as you like all at once. But once the application is sent that's it. It doesn't remain active in the system for future job opportunities. So if you hit "submit" and 30 seconds later a new job opportunity came up you wouldn't know about the job opportunity and the company doing the hiring wouldn't know about you. That's the problem I'm hoping to solve by allowing people to keep their applications available for future opportunities.

Excellent. That's exactly the idea I'm talking about.

BMI:

Body mass index (BMI)

BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:

  • Underestimate body fat for older adults or other people with low muscle mass
  • Overestimate body fat for people who are very muscular and physically fit

It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.

And let me say this......in my opinion you wouldn't have to be actively seeking a new job to keep your application active in the system. You could be perfectly happy with the job you have already but you'd still like to know about any new opportunities that may arise. I mean, what are the chances that you already have what you would consider the best job in the world? Is your job so amazing you wouldn't even want to be notified of other opportunities?

Here's another thought. We could have two different options

1) Make my application available to companies and recruiters for future opportunities

2) Keep my application private but notify me of any new job opportunities that come along

That would definitely work.

Brett, I like both of these ideas. it would be great to find opportunities you would not find out about on your own. and thanks for this great resource and to all the helpful people.

Brett, these are excellent ideas. One thing I have noticed when talking with drivers with decades of experience, is that most of them are driving for smaller companies, or companies I have never heard of. That leads me to believe that those are some of the companies offering the best pay, perks, and benefits.

Some of these companies are not willing to hire brand new drivers, but once a driver has several years experience and a clean driving record, it would be great to have our resume available to some of the smaller specialized companies we would otherwise never find.

I think it would be really neat if you could have a search system where you enter or selectr criteria and it gives you results based on that.

for example you can check boxes for things like "pet policy", "passenger policy", maybe a box to enter a min pay requirement, an option to search if team driving is required... things like that. that's not a complete list just a few off the top of my head... oh and an option to search for companies with auto transmissions since that is one that gets asked a lot.

Once those options have been set you hit search and the companies that match show up.

That's what I would like to see myself.
