So I've obtained my cdl class A and have been applying to the major trucking companies and every time I get asked the Criminal Background I flop! Is there any independent owners who are looking for a 2nd driver who gives the person a decent chance despite their background? I have a 5 year clean MVR and not accidents or DUI's/DWI's.

Schneider, Swift, Werner, CR England and Dart have said no so far.

Any help would be appreciated. Currently doing day labor as a sign holder (Human Directional).

  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

A quick update, I am also applying to TMC Transportation and Melton. I should have an answer within 24 hrs. Here's hoping for the best and for someone to say Yes!

Try Crete carrier. Not to be nosy but how old are your criminal offenses.

And (generally), what were the nature of the charges?

Truckers are a thick-skinned bunch (they have to be). You've got the tools, keep up the ambition & you'll be earning dollars before ya know it.

Best wishes on TMC, I've heard nothing but fantastic things from their drivers. Keep us posted!

Western Express, is known to many as a "second chance" or "Last Resort" company. and from what I hear, CR England is too.

Both are good companies.
