Im inspired to become a trucker. Its nore less a goal than it is a dream. Im 26 single with 3 kids. I wanna be on the road. My drivers lisense was recently cleared from all suspensions. I have to take my driving class c test over in order to reobtain my lisense. What steps could I take between now and when I plan on getting my Drivers lisense? I plan to have my lisense asap. All i need is the money to pay for the test!

I really can't recommend the road for a single parent of 3 kids. Where are they going to stay?

Sounds like you've recently had your license suspended, that's just about the worst thing you can let happen. Since you have to re-obtain your license you'll need to wait a minimum before being qualified for a CDL.

I believe it might take a few years before anyone will take a chance on you (due to the license suspension). The reason(s) behind the suspension could also hurt you more. Take the children into consideration too. Good luck.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.
