I was wondering how the hearing test works for a company pyhsical I assume they give you a forced whisper test like they do for the DOT physical but suppose you only pass it in one ear do you still pass or will they turn you down??
You will find a lot of helpful information in our DOT Hearing & Ear Test wiki page.
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
The physical I went to for school and for us xpress it was pretty much they whispered something and I answered them... didn't really even have to understand them, just had to hear them.
The physical I just did this past monday for Knight in Katy, TX actually had me wear these super stylish 80s headphones and hold this little buzzer thingy and push the button anytime I heard it beep. some of them were easy, some more difficult, did it both ears, Some of the time I wasn't sure if my ears were ringing or I was hearing the beep because it was such a quiet one. I still passed though. That physical was by far the most thorough one I have ever done in my life... to the point of being annoying. When you have already done 2 in 3 months a 3rd starts to cross the line. I get it he company wants you to do theirs but come on man... oh well life goes on.
I can't hear out of one ear and had no problem getting hired...
