So yeah, my instructor is great but he was tryna help me in commute hour traffic and he might as well have been speaking another language...cuz whatever I did I managed to stall the truck...Know REAL idea how I managed that! I'm "gifted" He was patient..hazards on..don't panic kinda attitude..:)cars will go around us...I am very determined to KNOW what I learn from him...So when we got back to home base he specifically worked with me on the clutch..It went well..I'm doin well:)...I told him I'm getting a tattoo that says " I own the clutch" lol...I just may...;).. .Happy Hump Day !!~~KaSandra
It's likely that you either left the splitter in the high range...or came to a full stop without pushing the clutch in. Regardless, you learned from it, no damage done, that's what counts. Relax...you will be fine, sounds like you are in very capable hands. Count your blessings, not always the case.
Good luck and safe travels.
Pretty soon you'll be covering up that 1st tattoo with one that says "What's a Clutch?" 😜

Or "what's a gear shift?"
Don't feel bad at all about that. I have twice blocked 4 lanes of traffic and an interstate on ramp. Both times was hauling bridge beams. Once the motor that steers the trailer died and I could not straighten the wheels and the other time the trailer wanted to to the wrong way. Had to stop both times. All you can do is remain calm and fix the problem.
Commercial trade, business, movement of goods or money, or transportation from one state to another, regulated by the Federal Department Of Transportation (DOT).
Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.
Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.
Thank you all:)...I'm working on remaining calm...I generally am calm but have been learning in commute traffic here in Cali -that is good AND bad..I prepare for the worst,lol?...I haven't stalled since :) .. I learned downshifting last night ..not perfected quite yet...There seems to be a rhythm to driving this truck between my left foot and my right hand... -KaSandra
Here's a great section of my book for your situation. It's called Keep Your Head On Straight, Keep Your Act Together and it's about handling the pressures you'll face out there on the road. About halfway down the page I tell a story about one of the craziest deliveries I ever had to make underneath City Hall in Downtown Phoenix at 6 pm on a Friday evening. They literally had to shut down several city blocks around City Hall just so I could get to where I needed to go. The police force was waiting for me when I arrived and thousands of people were sitting there watching me and waiting on me to get backed in so they could continue on with their lives. If I would have had a guitar I would have qualified as a bigger concert than The Rolling Stones in Central Park.

while learning it sure is hard to keep ur head sometimes...Each day I have a goal RE: school...it could be a skill type thing ...but often it is about my mindset..stay calm..pause...listen carefully to instructor..breathe..etc...:) ...KaSandra
First job I had outa school was a small directional drilling company, training was here's the the keys to that Mack follow them. About 3rd week on the job they gave me the Peterbilt to move the drilling rig. Right off the bat we get to a big hill and what do you know, trying to down shift I miss it it and come to a stop. Only 2 lanes but 1 is now blocked by 120,000 lbs. One of our other drivers helped me out but it happens and you learn.
