Yeah we typically park legally if were getting food but often change drivers in the fuel lane. Since we pretrip at least twice a day and every time we hook to a different trailer we only show a 7 min pretrip at driver change. Less time than it takes to fuel. It just really irked my codriver when that guy acted like that, so he decided he would eat and take 45 minutes to do it. :-/

TWIC:

Transportation Worker Identification Credential

Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.

Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

How about showering once and a while (or at least make yourself look neat) BEFORE going into the restaurant or dealing with anyone else.... remember, you are not only representing yourself as a driver, but your company and the industry as a whole... I have seen some rather "unkempt" and "dirty looking" smelly drivers out here..... its pitiful.... I know its hard to get a showers out here every day, but at least wash up and put on some clean clothes..... lol....

This may not cover about 99.99% of what you have seen. I have felt so bad during my training. My trainer only lets me use his rewards cards so he gains all the points. Since he showers only when we are early to deliver, I have to ask to get a shower some days. I have gone up to 4 days not getting to shower. All because he doesn't want to take one.'so I may have been one of those smelly guys, but I'm sorry.

Sorry about that man but 4 days, I'd be calling somebody.....I can understand if you miss a day here and there but if he's going 3-4 days at a time they'll either have to tell him to change or change my trainer. As a trainer I understand using his card so he earns the points but it's also his responsibility (in my opinion) to pay for the showers with his card and at least every other day...especially with 2 people in the truck.

I told the FM already, he has had this complaint a few times. I'm not sure if they have spoke with him yet.

Fm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Lol, we hear about the non showering trainer's on occasion but I actually had a non showering trainee on my truck at one point. 1 shower in 7 days and wearing the same shorts for that week. Eeewww. Skank stank.

I hate to admit it, but I'm one of those drivers. I only shower at pilot/flying j, and usually I don't like to shower while my clock is running. A lot of the times I'm either too busy to shower (bad excuse I know), or I just don't end my day where I have access to showers. I don't mind stopping at rest areas or sleeping on customer lots, but often times, that's all I'm able to do in a weeks time. I do brush my teeth, put on deodorant, and wash my face daily though.

I'm by no means perfect. I can't always get one every day and like you, I'm more than willing to overnight at a customer if they allow that. Just take your 30 minute at a pilot/flying J so at least it's not so much time off your 14 and generally no waiting to shower during the day time. On days I can't get to a shower, I use a lot of baby wipes, deodorant, and change my clothes.. especially undergarments. Another good way to work one in is by using the 8/2 split.

I tend to do my 30s at a rest area since it's 10x easier to get in and out, or after I'm done fueling. If I know I don't have to wait for a shower and if I'm desperate, ill take one then.

Also, I don't think Schneider allows 8/2 splits. I could be wrong though.

I used to be one of those people that took 30s in the fuel island, before I was confident enough to back at truck stops. Now whenever I pull up to the line, I try to get what I need done (usually just fuel recipt) ASAP for the driver behind me.
