Welcome Paul! You have a few options here. First of all understand that you're going to have to go through some sort of refresher training for most companies to bring you on, but not all. There may be some that will simply put you in a truck and send you out there.

One of the ways you can get going is to get on with a company that has their own company training program. Those major companies all have their own schools but they also have the financial incentive to get you out there rolling as quickly as possible. So most of the time they'll run you through the basics quickly to see where you need a little practice (if you need any at all) and get you out there as quickly as possible making money.

Another way you can go is to apply for trucking jobs and find out what the individual companies will require of you for training. For instance, they might say a 40 hour refresher course at a local school in your area will be fine. They'll give you a list of schools they'll accept training from and they'll cover anything you'll need to do to get going with them. Each company will have its own requirements so you'll have to find out from them individually.

The one thing you don't want to do is pay for a refresher course without getting it approved ahead of time. Not all companies will have the same requirements and not all of them will accept courses from just any school. So you don't want to assume you can take a course and jump right on with any company. They're not all going to accept that particular course.

Another way you could do it is to go to work for a local company for a while to get some time/miles. Smaller companies might take a chance on you if your record was good.
