I know class takes 3 weeks before you go on the road.At Swift, you skip over the days devoted to learning the CDL test. Those with CDL + physical went right into truck studies. Other companies may work differently.

So you mean to say those 3 weeks that they mentioned can be shorter it just depends on how fast you can catch up with the class? I'm confused..
My recruiter said the class would take 3 weeks? In my case, I will go with the CDL permit with me. Does it save me time to just jump off to the phase 2 like pre-tip or is actual driving with my trainer? Or I still have to go through classes etc?

I bet what you study and when you study it is up to the school, doncha' know.
"How to Drive a Truck" is the thing that will take 160 class + drive practice hours. The CDL class and the physical don't count for that.
So at Swift, having to take the CDL (for permit) classes adds a week or so.
