Finally gonna get paid to be a gypsy ;-)
RIIIGHT??
Update...we just got our trainer and left out this afternoon for our 6 weeks of training. Pretty sure we got a good one and his easy-going nature fits well with us. He also appears to bathe so there's THAT as well. We stayed exactly a week at orientation in Chattanooga and we are super glad to be out of there. The room mostly. Omg seriously the worst place we've ever stayed. But everyone is friendly and helpful and things are really organized so you aren't wandering around lost or confused. I would suggest Covenant for husband/wife teams and not singles who care about getting home. They are really set up more for established teams and if you are solo the teaming process looked a bit awkward to me. We left Chattanooga and went to ATL and are about to drop a trailer and pick up another to be in TX by tomorrow. I'll be driving most of that I guess since hubby has been driving since we left. Nothing like trial by fire :O Our trainer talks like we will stay pretty busy and not have a lot of downtime like some of the other's I've read are having right now. Going to try and get some sleep now..YAY for having to acclimate to a whole new sleep schedule AGAIN :'(
This might sound like a stupid question, but are there three of you in the truck?
How is it at covenant I start school soon and got prehire from them
One more week left of school then my husband an I are heading to Covenant next Monday (hopefully) for Orientation. I am so stoked and READY to get on to the next part of this adventure! Finally gonna get paid to be a gypsy ;-)
Pre-hire letters are acceptance letters from trucking companies to students, or even potential students, to verify placement. The trucking companies are saying in writing that the student, or potential student, appears to meet the company's minimum hiring requirements and is welcome to attend their orientation at the company’s expense once he or she graduates from truck driving school and has their CDL in hand.
We have an excellent article that will help you Understand The Pre-Hire Process.
The people that receive a pre-hire letter are people who meet the company's minimum hiring requirements, but it is not an employment contract. It is an invitation to orientation, and the orientation itself is a prerequisite to employment.
During the orientation you will get a physical, drug screen, and background check done. These and other qualifications must be met before someone in orientation is officially hired.
