Sapp Bros in Denver, CO. I-70 exit 278. There is a xxx shop between the truck stop, and the parking lot. There is also a massage parlor in the back of their tire shop that is plainly visible if you walk around back, or are parked near it (like I am tonight).

I figured I made bad decision trying to get as close to my shipper as I could, but I didn't have time to relocate. I only had 8 hours and 20 minutes of my 70 left for the day, and Walmart in Cheyenne ate up 4.5 of it. By the time I got here I only had an hour left.

Why didn't you just go to the TA right by there? Is it really that bad?? Lol, my home terminal is like 5 minutes from there

Shipper:

The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

SAP:

Substance Abuse Professional

The Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) is a person who evaluates employees who have violated a DOT drug and alcohol program regulation and makes recommendations concerning education, treatment, follow-up testing, and aftercare.

Passing by, the TA looked full. Honestly I didn't think it would be that much better. On the up side though, I've seen a security truck pass through a few times.

I don't like the TA near downtown Nashville. People get real nasty on the CB and it gives the place a sketchy vibe.

The Pilot off the Atlanta, GA. 285 bypass is to be avoided. It is the one located on Bouldercrest Rd. It's in a rough part of town, and parking is free, so you can imagine what type of activity you can expect.

I stopped there for fuel and was ready to shut down for the night, but something about that place made the hair on my neck stand up. I listened to my intuition, and pushed on outta there. I have since heard enough warnings about that stop to validate that I made the right choice!

That Pilot in Atlanta was where I stopped one time and called my sister, who lives in Atlanta, to come by and pick me up so I could take her and her family out to dinner. When I told her where I was she replied, "Man, you are in the hood! Why don't you just sleep at my house tonight and I'll take you back to your truck in the morning." I declined her offer since I was going to start my day at about 3:30 in the morning, but I had no problems while sleeping there other than I heard a few trucks getting crunched in the night as rookies tried to back into the tight parking spots.

Well hell.

I shouldn't of read this post as I sit in an empty lot of my customer on the southside of Chicago waiting to deliver tomorrow morning.

Ball st., Birmingham, AL and Lamar Ave, Memphis. We have customers at these locations and want us there for an early morning unload, which forces us to park outside their gate till then

Worst one Ive seen, a hazmat truck shut it down late at night on a dark curving on ramp near Santa Fe, he didn't follow hazmat rules and was right on the white line. A guy came by accelerating onto the freeway in a Toyota Tacoma and ended up clipping the truck and getting pulled under it and impacting the rear of the tractor under the trailer. Totaled a nice Toyota and the truck driver was ticketed because he was haz mat and stopped less than 5 feet from a roadway, otherwise it would have been the Toyotas fault for hitting him, the driver was injured but was treated and released.

HAZMAT:

Hazardous Materials

Explosive, flammable, poisonous or otherwise potentially dangerous cargo. Large amounts of especially hazardous cargo are required to be placarded under HAZMAT regulations

That's why I have a CCW permit. I'm not out looking to go shoot someone for the hell of it, but I will defend myself or die trying. It's a shame that some shippers/receivers know they are in an area where drivers have been robbed or killed, and they will still turn you away to fend for yourself.
