That's why I have a CCW permit. I'm not out looking to go shoot someone for the hell of it, but I will defend myself or die trying. It's a shame that some shippers/receivers know they are in an area where drivers have been robbed or killed, and they will still turn you away to fend for yourself.
Good point. Too bad it's against company policy just about everywhere. I usually just try to park somewhere safe.
The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.

You do know your CCW permit does not cover every state right? Depending on what state you obtained it in, you can't legally carry in about half the States.

Actually Phil - my Florida Resident Permit is reciprocal in 38 states. Pretty much everywhere except the communist west coast and the leftist northeast.
But still the point remains - do you want to risk your job and career over violating company policy? Odds are you wouldn't get caught, but still - would you want to risk it?
I'm about as pro-gun/pro-carry as anyone you'd want to meet, but I wouldn't recommend anyone make a decision whether to take that risk - based on some internet meme or site.
I for one, would probably elect to NOT RISK my career. There's nothing in the box, or in the cab - or even the rig itself, that's worth my life. Nor do I think your company would expect you to lay down your life to protect their load or equipment.

And as discussed numerous times here - if you work for 95% of the companies that we discuss here, and pretty much the same percentage of shippers/receivers - the "no firearms policy" of all of them, will result in a termination if you get caught with a firearm.
Not saying that I agree with this policy (and I'm a daily carry over 25 years). Not saying that I'd rather get fired (and blacklisted) and still be alive if a situation arose where using deadly force in lawful self-defense was the difference between living and dying.
Likewise it is morally despicable that shipper/receivers don't provide safe harbor.
Statistically speaking - these incidents, while appearing to be common - versus the millions of trucks out there, are actually somewhat rare.
We all know the response time of a .40, is much faster than the average police department. It's still a potential career-ender, to get caught with a firearm in violation of company policy.
