Will you have a work visa/green card when you get here? That will make things significantly easier. If not, you won't be able to legally work in the U.S. until you obtain one. Some (many) states require you to hold a regular driver's license for at least one year before applying for a CDL. If you're going to live in a state that doesn't have this requirement and you're eligible to work, you can start applying for Company-Sponsored Training Programs right away.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
A Company-Sponsored Training Program is a school that is owned and operated by a trucking company.
The schooling often requires little or no money up front. Instead of paying up-front tuition you will sign an agreement to work for the company for a specified amount of time after graduation, usually around a year, at a slightly lower rate of pay in order to pay for the training.
If you choose to quit working for the company before your year is up, they will normally require you to pay back a prorated amount of money for the schooling. The amount you pay back will be comparable to what you would have paid if you went to an independently owned school.
Company-sponsored training can be an excellent way to get your career underway if you can't afford the tuition up front for private schooling.
Https://www.uscis.gov/ is where you want to start. My husband is from Australia, we went the spousal route for him to immigrate. It's a difficult process and thats probably the easiest way to do it.
You cant just up and move and get a job in another country unless you want to be a drug smuggler.
Thanks for the help, I'm engaged to an American lady, but... I'm not jumping into anything and doing it that way...
Drug Smuggler? Nah, that's not me either... lmao
Cheers...

G'day all,
I'm actually going to be in the States around 25th May 2016, and currently drive truck and dog in Australia. I've searched the web with hope trying to find out how to apply for a driver job in the U.S.
Honestly I become more confused and less hopefull in my quest.
I'm just wondering who has information on how I may find work, before arriving their.
Any information is greatly appreciated.
Keep the rubber to the road... Thanks and cheers, Michael
