Same down here in Springfield (although ironically, Indiana is my home state. :P) I'm both excited and worried. I want everything to fall into place so I can focus on learning! Hope it goes well for you!

yeah me too, there are some that have been here for 4-5 weeks and its to be a 3 wk course, so im kinda stearing away from that and stick it the 1st weekers like myself. Good luck to you as well!!
Yall just hoped onto the ride of your life:) Your about to go through quite an experience. Learn all ya can, discard the unuseful stuff and maintain a positive attitude. Good luck to both of yall. A year will go by before you know it!
Best of luck to ya! Let us know how things go
So many of you guys are getting started at the same time around here, it's really good to see you guys all jumping in at the same time. It's going to be evident to you pretty quickly who the losers are in your class. Avoid them and their ways and find yourself a core group that is serious about getting a new career underway or just stay to yourself if that suits you. I still remember out of about 35 in my orientation group there were around seven of us who followed through and made it into a trainers truck, and even then I think a couple more fell off during that time.
I'm not exactly sure why it's like that, but some people just don't have a realistic expectation about what they have gotten into. Be serious and earnest in your quest for this and follow the instructors advice. That's one thing I noticed that really caused people to start peeling off was that they seemed to think they already knew more than the instructors. It only irritated the instructors and disillusioned the know-it-all student, causing them to have conflict with each other right from the start. The instructors get so tired of this B.S. that they just get rid of those types pretty quickly.
I wish you guys the best! It might get tough, but that's where your character will start to carry you across the finish line. You can do this! Hang in there, it's the beginning of the ride of you life!

Geo, feeling like that about the pretrip is expected. I mean, there's like a hundred things you need to memorize and make a few short sentences about each object. It's overwhelming and daunting. I thought the same thing. But you'll always be practicing the pretrip every day for hours. By the time you're done you should be comfortable enough to pass. My day 1 I was shocked and horrified, to be honest, at the pretrip. I thought they are giving us too much. But like we always say, find the students who are serious and who are clearly going to make it and team up with them and study the pretrip together. It makes it a lot easier and a lot less boring.
Not trying to brag but when I did my official pretrip test I aced it. Didnt forget about anything! My point is not to brag, it's to point out that I was in your exact situation with the exact same mind set about the pretrip inspection test and I managed to ace it. Don't worry about it, just study study study and ask questions to your instructors and us. Its easier than it looks.

Exactly, my instructor at school gave me an extra pre-trip packet to leave by the toilet at home. lol, funny but it did help just to read even 1 page while doing your business. He also said take it 1 page at a time which actually did help me. you'll be spouting it off to your instructors before you realize it. Good luck
thanks guys for the advice and insight.. here it is 1133 and i cant fall asleep, 5am is right around the corner, and im still reading and re-reading this 5 page paper.. i know i will get it, but i dont wanna be some others here in their 5th week in a 3 wk program. i pressure myself to much when it comes to tests..
Talk to u all tomorrow
