You should have asked for medication that's approved for commercial driving. The problem is you still have to pass a drug test which means the medication you're taking now can't be in your system. It's hard to say how long it will take to completely get it out.

I would get on some approved medication as quickly as possible.

If you BP started at 158/100, you needed BP meds anyway...cuz truck driving is STRESSFUL. I agree with Brett..there are meds out there that you can take while driving. The "no Driving" warning on your meds is there until you get the dosage adjusted to fit you. But if your Dr. want a med that will pass DOT scrutiny, TSB and I both take Lisinopril for Hypertension , and have taken it for over 20 years. Its an old drug, and the dosage can be really small. You may wish to suggest that one......good luck !!

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

Hypertension:

Abnormally high blood pressure.
