I needed DOT physical for permit though and my permit is the correct class. I'll make sure to ask recruiter about that as well. Don't want to make two trips to Phoenix.

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

From what you described it sounds like we're talking about the same thing. I just mention it cause I had originally checked "no" on my medical form when I got my physical since I didn't have one at the time. I'm glad I asked my recruiter about it before I left for school! I think it's important because, unless Swift has you get another physical for some reason, this is the medical form and card you will carry with you after you get your cdl until you're due for another physical.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Sorry to clarify, I checked "no" where it said CDL, Yes or No.

And make where it says "Intrastate Only", it is checked " NO".

Sorry, hope I'm not confusing you, just want to help you avoid setbacks at school.

Intrastate:

The act of purchasers and sellers transacting business while keeping all transactions in a single state, without crossing state lines to do so.

Ok, I think ours are different. Mine doesn't have anything that needs to be checked like that, but I will make sure it is all right.

Ok that's cool, fewer things to worry about!

Sounds like Colorado's is probably a bit different, but I appreciate the heads up. I know I checked something wrong at MVD, but the agent working there had me fix it.
