Any helpful tips to be better. Going through school. Not awful and am getting better. I just can't seem to get into the lane soon enough to do a good pull up and straight-line back.

To me its hard to explain. But remember. When your backing it takes the. Trailer to correct when you correct your steering tires..

No after-Submit editing. Once you hit Submit, it's permanent. You can press Edit to see how it will look, and you can proof read it there, then Submit!

BMI:

Body mass index (BMI)

BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:

  • Underestimate body fat for older adults or other people with low muscle mass
  • Overestimate body fat for people who are very muscular and physically fit

It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

The best advice I can give is to just keep trying. It took me nearly two weeks before the offsets clicked. I had already moved onto blindside parallel and that was going better! One day it finally clicked and it was smooth sailing after that. Don't be afraid to get out and look as many times as you need to while you are working on them. It will give you a better idea of the angles of the truck and what you can do to correct problems. Don't give up! I know it's frustrating but it will get better!

It is a hard left until just after you see your glad hands, about an inch or two after, then hard right when you are in line then back. Right countersteer? When? Then left so you can get back under your trailer?

Lynn, could you describe how to do an offset? Can you put it into words?

From what I remember in school, you pull forward as far as possible. As soon as you start to back, crank the wheel quickly all the way over and hold for 3 seconds. (We used Freightliner Columbias, other tractors might turn faster or slower.) Then quickly turn the wheel back to straighten out. When you can see the cone in the mirror, stop turning the wheel and stop rolling at the same time. You have been rolling in reverse all this time. Now that you're stopped check your mirrors and decide if you can get in the alley or if you need to pull forward. If you pull up, pull all the way up. If you leave space in front of you in a pull up, you can't use it later or take it home with you.
