I parked both trucks next to each other and moved all my stuff. Took about 2 hours.

Totally newbie question here, but how much stuff do you have in your truck? What do you have that it took 2 hours?

Again, I'm genuinely curious, I have no frame of reference. Would it take most drivers a couple of hours to clean our their truck?

It very well could take 2 hours, especially if you are carrying a fridge, microwave, tv, cb, + your clothes, personal items, bedding, paperwork, lol.

I spent about the same. I have a lot of food though. Figuring out how to place things in a different model takes some time

Just like moving from one house to another. More stuff than you imagined. And maybe you haven't gotten many boxes to carry things in - even for the 10 feet between the trucks. (BTW, most places where you move from one truck to another have a scaffold walkway you park the trucks next to, a bridge so you're not climbing up and down those steps all the time.)

I know some Swift terminals got those. But of course, bobtail only.

Bobtail:

"Bobtailing" means you are driving a tractor without a trailer attached.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

In our tractors, the hard braking event goes off, anytime the speed of the truck drops 9mph or more in 1 second.

As for moving from one tractor to another, I have clocked myself and it usually takes me around 6 hours to move all my stuff, but I am also taking time to spray the entire interior of the truck with 2 large cans of Lysol, vacuuming out all the cabinets and storage areas, and also using Clorox wipes on any surface that might need cleaning.

Any truck that someone has lived in, is going to be similar to a hotel room situation. I'm not going to get graphic, but most people cannot even begin to imagine some of the stuff that goes on behind closed doors. I remember watching a report on television years ago, where they tested the inside of a motel room, to see what traces of substances they could find. You don't even want to know. There was even stuff on the ceiling, that had absolutely no reasonable explanation for being up there.

The reason I take time to clean the interior before I put my stuff in, is because if I put my stuff in, and then take it back out to clean it, then all my stuff will need cleaning as well.

I dunno, I might be OCD. You know Howard Hughes was OCD, and he liked to line the wall with Mason jars he personally topped off, but the only thing I use Mason jars for is when I buy my pipe tobacco in bulk, and need to divvy it up.

I just completed a run I've done several times: Memphis TN - Birmingham AL - Atlanta GA - (near) Savannah GA.

I travel interstate both Phoenix l open road style and Atlanta traffic style. Birmingham has a stretch of US 78 that is over-used surface street, lots of cars, trucks and signal lights. Some not-so-tough hills.

I've gone this way several times with my KW manual shift. Today I did it with the Freightliner auto.

Much easier with that automatic shifting! A couple times I waved my right hand between the seats looking for the shift stick. Once I pressed the clutch petal that's not there. Other than that, it was a good drive.

Interstate:

Commercial trade, business, movement of goods or money, or transportation from one state to another, regulated by the Federal Department Of Transportation (DOT).

The autos aren't bad really. I've become used to it. Beware of complacency though. Going up a hill there's nothing to do but steer. Downhills have more call for driver involvement though. Especially with a heavy load.

Yeah! Going down a hill, I can move the lever and manage the Jake Brakeā„¢! Something to do besides hold in to the steering wheel!

Yeah I love my automatic Pete! And more importantly my bum left knee loves my automatic!
