Hey Brett . . . Could you set something up on TT just for CB related posts? IE: getting CB handles for us newbies, edicate & how you SHOULD talk on there, maybe how to deal with some of the antenna or radio problems, swap CB stories, etc . . .

In the upper left corner of this webpage; there is a search bar. Enter the letters CB and the search engine will return any thread pertaining to the subject of CBs. That same search engine can be used for any topic related to trucking.

Plenty of other places on the web - without dedicating another sub-forum on TT. This site seems to have worked well for years - with just a general, training diaries and ladies forum.

As G-Town suggested - you could just search on here and find CB related topics.

My handle has been SickRick for years - since I'm a kid actually. Picked it up in the Navy - and it stuck (plus I do my best to live up to it). My car and motorcycle tags also have my handle on them (in various spellings SICRICK & SIKRIK).

I have always been told you get your CB handle when someone gives it to you. Then again, I grew up with my father being a trucker. It is kinda sad that not many people use CBs much anymore. But, it seems like everybody has a backup radio. It only turns on in case of backups. Yes, I do have a CB. It was a free one a buddy gave me. Cheapo $40 one. No range to speak of. I'm saving up for a nice one. Maybe I can con my father out of 1 for Christmas, lol.

My internet handle has always been Lyght I would think my CB one would be the same if I end up using one. I have a slight speech impediment so it'll likely sound more like Right or White for some reason. How distracting is a CB though? You'll have to unhook the mic push the button and hold it whole talking, then put it back. Since cell phones have to be hands free wouldn't/shouldn't that apply for CB radios are well? That seems like it would take more effort and consternation than just holding a phone to your ear while driving.

The hands free laws absolutely apply to cb's, qualcomm , gps devices... basically everything says my employer. Use them with caution.

Qualcomm:

Omnitracs (a.k.a. Qualcomm) is a satellite-based messaging system with built-in GPS capabilities built by Qualcomm. It has a small computer screen and keyboard and is tied into the truck’s computer. It allows trucking companies to track where the driver is at, monitor the truck, and send and receive messages with the driver – similar to email.

I was given my handle by another driver. I was going by Daydreamer, but he decided that Giggles was more appropriate after we ran all night together. Trust me, he hit it dead on!!!! Everyone else that had been listening to us all rang in in agreement! Lol!
