Somewhere on here, I have put the recipe for making "TRUCKERS WIPES". basically, you buy a roll of the WHITE shop towels ( the blue ones are rough !!) you then get a box that they will fit in,folded (with a hinged lid if possible). You buy BABY SHAMPOO, whatever scent you like, put about a 1/4 cup in your box, add hit water, mix...then start folding in your towels til its full, and they are all saturated. WALA !!! Thruckers Wipes.. I'll tell you, we pulled flatbed, and they got ALL the grime off. The good thing is since its baby shampoo, it doesn't irritate your skin, cuz it doesnt' have phosphoric acid, like most soap. And you get clean, and smell wonderful ,all at the same time ...I don't like any og the powders, they seem to ball up when you sweat, partly because they have oil in them. So give em a try...

I am concerned about hygiene while driving OTR. I like to brush my teeth and floss twice a day. Sometimes brushing 3 times a day. I also like to shower twice a day. How do truckers do that on the road? The truckers normal routine seems to brush/floss once a day and shower once every two days. I like being clean and enjoy staying clean.

How do truckers maintain hygiene while driving so many hours?

I don't have any experience with oral hygiene as a trucker, but I would suggest something simple and effective. What I do is buy hydrogen peroxide at walmart(3% solution) and dilute it to 1.5% ( 1 part of distilled water and one part of hydrogen). After each meal simly rinse your mouth as you would do with Listerine, etc. It has whitening effect as well, now check out my TEEsmile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif TH :))

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

TWIC:

Transportation Worker Identification Credential

Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.

Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

I shower twice a day some days if I am doing an unload in 100 degree weather or something. You just need to plan properly. You don't HAVE to fill to 100% every time you get fuel. So I fill 51 gallons at Pilot or Love's in the morning, then I fill 149 gallons later in the day, or vice versa. You will figure it out. That being said, showering twice a day is terrible for the environment, not really necessary when you sit in an air conditioned box all day.
