Hey flat, do you have your cdl already? I understand there's a waiting list for non cdl holders as they only train 12 people at a time. I was already in school when I applied and they called me after I submitted it. The process was lengthy but moved along once I graduated.

Nope. Thats the thing, and you are right. If you dont have the CDL yet then you have to wait coz they only allow 12 people. The waiting list for available spot sucks 😭😭

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

BMI:

Body mass index (BMI)

BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:

  • Underestimate body fat for older adults or other people with low muscle mass
  • Overestimate body fat for people who are very muscular and physically fit

It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.

Lol yea a buddy of mine applied as well, was hoping to see you guys in little rock. It's worth the wait in my opinion but there are plenty of good companies out there where you get a good start in your career.

He applied for student or rookie driver? If student , he is also in the waiting list like me? Yeah! Hoping to meet one of the member here it'd be cool!! Theres plenty but not all actually hire in my state. Like TMC, they dont hire student from Oklahoma :-/ KLLM also, you need to be a resident of TX! So Idk I gues I just have to hold on..

I am opting for the private school option because of that, if I get my CDL from a private school I can then work for whichever company I want :)

If I have extra cash with me to pay for private school the I will for sure go for that option. Going to private school will open ur selection to more company with out signing a contract. So if you think thats the best for you then go for it!

Update - Recruiter called today and put me to alternate spot. I'm still in the waiting list but closer to get in if someone back out for April Class. Monday , she will call back to give me all the itinerary for orientation. Atleast its moving!! I'm still doing regular work out after work to improve agility skills :-)

Great news :) hopefully you can get in soon. I have been out of work so I qualify for the state grant, that helps. I know for Central Tech they offer a loan through Wells Fargo that seems pretty good. Something like no payment or interest for six months, and pretty reasonable interest after that.
