Aren't you glad you stuck around? Driver training can really get to you. But that's over with and it'll mostly be easier. Really.
(If Kansas hated you, you would have been sent to Nebraska to wait for your trainer. KS was just making sure you were all right for these 7 days!)
Good point Errol! I tell you what though. I can't get out of this state fast enough! I thought it was windy in southern MO and Indiana but Kansas takes the cake! The wind has been blowing so hard it's rattling the window!
I got a call about 4:30 from my trainer telling me to get some sleep as we are going to be rolling out as soon as she gets done at KW around midnight. All was quiet in the hotel so I took her advice and went to sleep. Until the screaming, giggling 5 year old next door woke me up... I don't know what was going on but I thought the walls were caving in! So now I'm just hanging out drinking coffee and polishing off my Burger King while I wait on a phone call. I'm getting plunged right into the thick of it with some good old graveyard shift night driving! Whew, what a way to start this off!
Operating While Intoxicated
I prefer driving after midnight. Sure, no scenery, but hardly any traffic either. And if you can make a drop-hook before 6am, you might be the only one in the yard!
I can't forget: through Cincinnati south to north on I-75 in 20 minutes at 3am. Can't touch that when the sun is up.
Finally on the truck! Had a delay overnight so I did get some sleep so that's good! But so excited to get going! Whoop whoop!
Guess where I am going?!? CALIFORNIA! We haven't even left the yard yet and I am so stinking excited! I love my job!
But the wind... Geez!
Cali is a big place. Where you headed?

Santa Fe springs? TA only runs LA/southern CA area. So through New Mexico and Arizona. Our trailer won't be here until 1930 so more waiting. Guess I'm getting pretty good at that part!
Santa Fe Springs is only 14 - 15 miles from my house or about 20 - 30 minutes depending on traffic. If you have time, check out the Santa Fe Springs Swap Meet. They even have live music on the weekends.
Santa fe springs isn't too bad, I just drove i70 east through Kansas and you are right about that dang wind!
Santa Fe Springs!! I grew up "next door" in Downey.
Can't say there's much of interest there. Chris & Pitts BBQ is the local go-to for 'Que. SFS is the home of Laura Scudder potato chips. Ms. Scudder was the first to put chips in wax paper bags. You're in the middle of the vast suburbs stretching from Los Angeles to Disneyland.
Enjoy your trip over Cajon pass. (Hint: don't say "ka-john pass", locals will giggle. Say "ka-hone pass".)
