You guys who are thinking about going to TMC might find this thread of interest. It is Steve's Diary of his training at TMC. It is about three years old, but it has a lot of great information in it. Steve is no longer with TMC, he had a situation at home that required him to be there so he had to leave, but he thoroughly enjoyed his time there, and left us with a pretty good thread about what it is like to get started over there.
I will say this, I have been to TMC several times... if you see a plot of grass with a sign that says don't walk on the grass - don't even think about walking on it! There is hardly an orientation that goes on over there that someone doesn't get sent home because they ignored that sign! In fact, you would be wise to just not walk on any grass up there at the Des Moine location.
Also, they have got a really cool looking bus that takes you from the hotel to the training facility - yes, it is black and chrome!
One last note... if they tell you the bus will be there at 6:45 a.m. to get you - be ready and waiting at 6:30 a.m.
I hope you're paying attention - I promise you these things are important to those folks up there. They are watching you to see if you are their type of material, and I have given you a really good heads up. Take notes!
Thank you for the info Old School. Much appreciated
Well Jason, looks like I won't be seeing you at TMC anytime soon. I had something from a few years ago come up that i completely forgot about. Guess its time to order a copy of my Dac report.... Come Oct i can re-apply and should be good..
Best of luck to ya! look forward to hearing about your adventures.
A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).
It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.
Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.
David. Sorry to here that. I will do my best to update my progress on here
