Family Dollar is ALL TOUCH!
Family Dollar is ALL TOUCH!
Yep lol. Apply for a Family Dollar dedicated account if you want to work your tail off. :)
I talked to a Werner driver doing a (I think Dollar General) and I know I don't want that. That's dedicated isn't it. So would Home Depot be a laborious dedicated?

Not sure about Home Depot. Dollar General just bought Family Dollar somewhat recently.
Bucket asks:
I'm a bit confused, which is more labor intensive dedicated or regional.
It depends. There are many, many dedicated accounts that are no-touch freight. Any of the Dollar accounts or Retail Tire Accounts are "finger-print" freight and require the driver to unload. My guess? Home Depot is likely no-touch because they are palletized loads and likely drop & hook. Each dedicated account has it's own unique set of procedures and nuances. I have posted a ton of information on Walmart Dedicated, but I know very little about Target, Quaker, Sears or any number of dedicated accounts Swift has. If Errol sees this thread, he will probably drop some knowledge about his dedicated account.
The best answer can only come from a representative of the company you are interested in working for.
Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.
Thanks G- Town, guess that explains my confusion. That will let me ask better questions. Should see some recruiters while in school. I'm also seeing jobs for otr that are 12 on and 2 home. Worded home every other week! Those could be a good starting point with a company that has several dedicated lanes. I'm looking a Averitt, Schneider, Swift, and Werner. Non will commit other than otr but want me to contact them once I'm in school. I'm scheduled to start May fourth. Twenty three days and I have a clp also dot med card.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
Before getting their CDL, commercial drivers will receive their commercial learner's permit (CLP) upon passing the written portion of the CDL exam. They will not have to retake the written exam to get their CDL.
Hey man I'm on a GP dedicated with Roehl. It's a good dedicated fleet. I would recommend it to anyone. Especially a rookie driver like myself and others here. If you have any specific questions about it send me a personal message.

I'm a bit confused, which is more labor intensive dedicated or regional. I was going to apply for one. I think this company has a GP dedicated and a Family Dollar. Both have home time weekly. Also a regional with every other week. I know most otr are no touch, but isn't regional also?
