From what I saw while i was just at C-1 in Ft. Wayne is they give you their state CDL with your home info on it. then i believe they said when its time to re-new you have it done in your home state

It really depends on the company...and more so the STATE> Alot of them are changing their rules, trying to promote more revenue. And there are even states that won't accept out of state people for the cdl schools instate...go figure. So you will need to contact the school you have chosen to see what THEY require. They will know what their State requires, so they can set ya straight.

Yeah, find out how they handle students from your state from the company-sponsored schools you're considering. Sometimes you'll transfer your license to the state the school is in, get your CDL there, and then transfer your CDL back to your home state. Other times your license will stay in your home state, you'll train out of state, and the company will bring you back to your home state for the testing.
But just ask the companies you're dealing with like Starcar said. They'll let you know how to handle it.
