Wow... u had some experiences already. I always drove at night and rhe scales are closed. Had to run days this week and got pulled in even when empty. The other day I came from a customer and needed a scale cause the trailer gauge was broke. As soon as u got on Highway I got pulled into weigh station... two miles from car scale :( I was scared not knowing if I was really legal on the back or not. Then I got the green light while sitting on that scale. Yay me. But I know that fearful feeling.

Next time ur card doesn't work see if you can write a comdata check for cash to yourself and pay cash for fuel then scan receipt with trip sheets

Yea that feeling of driving through a scale is a thriller lol

Looking back, the first day/afternoon of driving was the scariest of my life. Snow, mountains, dark early, 90degree right, then left in small town, heavy load...what could go wrong?

Congratulations Theron! Keep that positivity going!

Haha that's crazy you got pulled in for an inspection your first day. That's great that you passed it though! Don't you lose risk analysis points (losing points is good) for passing an inspection? Errol?

I don't know about that. And I don't want to mention whether I've had inspections or not so I don't jinx the situation. Then I'd have to find out about DOT inspections and whether they affect my risk analysis.

But it's always good to pass one. Treat yourself to an ice cream.

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

Theron, way to go! It's rather sad that the DOT would mess with a driver just like cops mess with teenage drivers in small towns. But it's all apart of life I guess. Way to keep your cool and press on.

BTW, do you have a YouTube channel? I could have sworn I've seen your profile picture on YouTube before, but maybe it was only this site. Not sure.

Stay safe.

Passing an inspection does help your score. At least with Swift. I passed the only one I've had and my DM wanted a copy of it for my file.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

I just "lived" through the stress and figured trucking life was really better than this once I got done experience. And you know what? It did.

And I learned from all this. Most of these things never happened again, not to speak of happening all at once.

(And "venting" my frustration on TT helped tons.)
