Stanley, I've never seen that done. It is usually one or the other. Your dispatcher will give you loads that you can do on time, even if it is a long load, you will be allowed the necessary time to make your appointments. I am a solo driver, but i recently was dispatched from Connecticut to California, and then dispatched right back to Connecticut. That's back to back coast to coast turn arounds for a solo driver.
If you are a solo driver they won't give you a load of lettuce going from southern California up to Maine, because it will be wilted by the time you get there, but if they have a load of non perishables that can sit in a truck for a week then a solo driver can handle it.

Is it possoble to pick up a codriver for a team run on occasion if you are a solo driver? Like on long runs OTR upon request? Or is it one or the other ?
OTR:
Over The Road
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
