The Swift AM/FM raidios are XM compatible. You must buy the subscription, though.

Thanks. I'll definitely get a subscription

Fm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Mine has a "cigarette lighter" plug on it. I will mount it with Velcro. Easy in easy out. The antenna will need to be tuned to the radio with a SWR meter. If you are not familiar with CB radios, have a CB shop do it for you.

Sounds easy enough

All swift trucks have antennas on the truck, all you need is a radio... Installing the radio is easy as buying one, you got 2 wires on the back, one red (+ positive) and one black (- Negitive).. All you do is match the colors in the truck to the CB, most of the newer trucks have them labeled as +/- then you attach the Antenna cable and your done.. I'd advice having a shop tune it though as if your SWR is higher then 2.5-3 you'll fry the board in the CB.....

sounds easy. If I happen to need a shop to line me out, would the shop be at the terminal?

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Most Trucking companies have nothing to do with CB radios. Many truck stops have a CB shop close by.

you can always do a google search for your area and see if any are near by.. I'd wait tell your in your own truck though as the CB will need to be installed in your truck for them to peak and tune the radio/antennas.

Gotcha. Is this so,etching that will need to be done during your home time or can you do this out on the road?

There are many "CB shops" near or at truck stops. Take care of this when you're parking for the night.

Most newer Freighliners and Internationals are already pre-wired for cb's and have internal antennas hidden in the upper structure. In FL, it's behind the sunglasses holder on the driver side, and Intl has a shelf in the top center.

DIY install is pretty easy. I'd suggest you find a good basic CB on sale and give it a try yourself.

If you aren't happy or have issues, then have a CB shop tech take a look at it.

We don't use our CB much, but it is handy in traffic jams.
