I just got my CDL ( Recent Grad ) and I'm looking at some companies that offer tuition Reimbursement and I'm wondering what's the catch????

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

It's sound's like they will pay me a lump some as long as I drive for them,

YO!

If you plan on using your company for exp, and then leave.... Don't do the tuition reimbursement. You might have to pay it back to the company once you leave.

My finding when checking into companies who had tuition reimbursement was the ones who did seemed to pay a little less cpm. I did the math and came to the decision that the company I chose does not have tuition reimbursement but pays more cpm. I will actually come out ahead with this company and no reimbursement than some of the others ones who do reimburse. That's was my choice not saying it's right for everyone. Good luck to you.

CPM:

Cents Per Mile

Drivers are often paid by the mile and it's given in cents per mile, or cpm.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

Not quite accurate. I think you were referring to Schneider's Tuition Reimbursement program? They do not pay-out a lump sum. After 30 days of employment they will begin to pay you $150.00 per month until you either leave or the entire out-of-pocket tuition amount is paid back (up to $6000.00).

Just got my CDL ( Recent Grad} Some company's offer tuition Reimbursement what is the catch????

Also my top four to work for is Navajo Express,Recruiter keeps calling and Emailing, texting ,No Tuition Reimbursement. Knighs Trans. Will not call back or answer my text , Werner,My CDL school trainer worked for them for 30 year's,and I have two friend's that like it their,???? Schneider because thinking of tanker's I'am 58 year's old and in good shape,Recently retired,To old for flatbed or tanker's let me know,,,

Schneider pays $150/month until it is paid (up to a certain amount). I don't think you owe them anything if you quit. I don't plan on quitting though.
