So we made it to the other side of Indy last night. It's a really good thing that I lived in Indy all of my teenage years and learned how to drive in this city because my Treq unit decided to RESTART itself in the middle of 465 loop around town!!

I haven't had any more fuel gauge problems since I filled up the tanks but we will see. Getting ready to head to Ohio to do this relay and then it's on the Arkansas and then home!

I know it's been more than a week since I started this. I really enjoy this blogging thing so if anyone wants me to start another thread or something just let me know!

This happens more than you might guess...best to have backups, electronic and paper directions. Paper as a fall-back when you are unable to get cellular and satellite.

Short post. I will update everything as soon as I get home.

Long story short: since The adventure in Indy I have been through Colombus OH twice, Cincinnati, Louisville, Nashville, Memphis and Little Rock in 2 days.

We are shut down at a great little mom and pop truck stop in Blackwell AR about an hour from our Walmart DC. As soon as we are unloaded we get to head straight home!

TWIC:

Transportation Worker Identification Credential

Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.

Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

Are you at Blackwell Travel Center? With the Baskin Robbins? I stop there when I need to pull in.

Sure am! This place is pretty great. I got parking after midnight. I'm all kinds of crooked but there is a ton of space so I don't really care..

Today is a day where I absolutely love all of the perks TA offers.

We are waiting at this Walmart DC to unload the trailer. Thanks to the APU we have a/c and are laying around watching The Wizard of Oz.

Hopefully they don't take forever to unload us so we can make it home without having to take a break!

I just looked up our route home. According to Trucker Path there is a grand total of ONE place to stop in 5 hours...

Speaking of which, why aren't there any truck stops around Branson?

APU:

Auxiliary Power Unit

On tractor trailers, and APU is a small diesel engine that powers a heat and air conditioning unit while charging the truck's main batteries at the same time. This allows the driver to remain comfortable in the cab and have access to electric power without running the main truck engine.

Having an APU helps save money in fuel costs and saves wear and tear on the main engine, though they tend to be expensive to install and maintain. Therefore only a very small percentage of the trucks on the road today come equipped with an APU.

T.P. does not have every truck stop listed (yet). I've noticed in rural areas many towns have one or two filling stations that slide trucks (loggers mostly) to park there.

I know, Branson isn't exactly a crossroads town, but just be on the lookout.

Well we figured out why there weren't any truck stops! Because my stupid GPS wanted me to take this crazy road through Arkansas up and down mountains with 20 mph switchbacks! Omg that was terrifying! Never ever again will I take that road..
