C.S. it is for the trainer and for the 120 can post pictures of the paper work I have no reason to come here to lie. Just looking for guidance, and in no way shape or form am I saying celadon is a bad company. What I am saying is I paid for my schooling out of pocket where celadon didn't have to foot my bill I should get a little more money and if not I will be a celadon.

I agree, you can go wherever you like, that's the benefit of paying for school upfront. I'd like to see your paperwork, because honestly if you are not repaying schooling 18 cpm as a team for six months is a little low. Hopefully that's after the split, and not before (meaning 36 cpm to the truck). But we have Nathan saying he's making 42 cpm (split) as a rookie team. I didn't go through Celadon's school and I came in with experience, so I don't personally know their pay practices for fresh graduates. Maybe this is a new practice? It certainly isn't mentioned on the CDA website. Post pictures of your pay package if you can.

CPM:

Cents Per Mile

Drivers are often paid by the mile and it's given in cents per mile, or cpm.

C.S. maybe there was a miss understanding yes 36 cpm to the truck with teams but the team thousand with the trainer 18 cpm is the only thing I am trying to avoid. And the way it was explained to me was when I am with the trainer I only get paid for the miles I drive. I have met great people that have worked for celadon for years . Just looking for guidance and information and got a great comment from someone saying that their company pays 750 or more which ever is better . I am looking to try to avoid the trainer if at all possible because I still have bills coming in and I can email the paperwork and contract that every student signs if they (Celadon ) pays for their schooling

Ok I believe I see the misunderstanding here, celadon does pay .18 cpm for students going through training, which is on average 4-6 weeks. After your training, their pay is average and fair. So if you want to switch companies for that extra pay while training, you now have that right since you paid out of pocket

Believe it was my mistake in the first place to think that me having a class b for 15 years and using it to tow medium duty tow trucks was going to be driving experience for me.

I see your situation a little clearer and I have to tell you it's going to be a little more difficult for you then you may think. First you have paid for your CDL which is great for you, the problem rises that you still need to be trained to do the practical side of the business. By paying for your school it's easy to think you should be paid more but unfortunately you will find that companies need to teach you the practical side of the business which means some trainer will have to be paid to learn it. The idea you paid for your training out of pocket and should start out being paid more is misguided. So what does paying get you? It allows you the freedom of choosing the company and gets you out of having to make a time commitment.

I am a O/O and I make 72% of the revenue of the load not cents per mile as some people have said here. You should also know that as a O/O the pay the trainee makes comes out of the revenue the owner gets paid. Also realize any accident that happens on the truck and the owners insurance pays for it. It's a minimum of 500 deductible for myself.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

It's not time to give up yet. Many companies will get you a "hiring bonus" that will cover your tuition. Yes, you'll be on a contract for up to a year, but at the moment you can pick and choose what company to sign with.
