Hi, Patrick.
So you're already a little confused! You said you needed to learn paperless logs. I bet you meant the paper logbook. The paperless ones only require buttons to be pushed.
To answer your specific question, think of a dollar as one hour, and quarters, naturally, as quarter hours. (Don't worry about how many minutes in a quarter, or 25ยข yet.)
You know a quarter hour is 15 minutes, so how many quarter hours in 45 minutes? (3). That's three quarters. One more quarter hour and you have one hour. (4 quarters = $1)
In our next lesson we'll work with rounding. See you tomorrow!
A written or electronic record of a driver's duty status which must be maintained at all times. The driver records the amount of time spent driving, on-duty not driving, in the sleeper berth, or off duty. The enforcement of the Hours Of Service Rules (HOS) are based upon the entries put in a driver's logbook.
The decimal equivalents are what he was looking for. For 15 minutes it would be .25 or 1/4 of an hour. For 45 minutes it would be .75 or 3/4 of an hour. You already have the half hour mark down at .5.
