No news must be good news. I'm takin 5-1 odds that flatie is having such a hectic, but good time that she cannot find time or strength to reply. Come to think of it, it's be rather quiet since everyone went to school.

Hope everyone is doing good.

UPDATE :

Sorry guys been busy for a while and wasn't able to update my diary right away. Things are good here in the Academy and learning a lot of stuff.

05-02-2016

First day of school. Me and my roommate are very excited. I set my alarm to 3:10 AM to have time to cook to our lil kitchen set up inside our room. I cooked Boiled Chicken with Cabbage on it in a rice cooker with rice and corn! Cook everything in a rice cooker that I bought at walmart for $14+ I don't wanna spend so much money for my meal so I tried to stretch out my $300 for the whole 3 weeks! I went to walmart sunday and bought grocery worth $84 for the whole week including the mini kitchen set up. My roommate really enjoyed our breakfast. Took some snacks ( banana and chips + botled water ) coz it's gonna be a long day I need something to eat during break time otherwise I will be very grumpy! Haha

So we went to the conference room. There's ton of students waiting on the bus from dif states. I saw 5 women all together including me and my roommate. We used two bus in our class, yes two bus we have a big class lol! 46 students! Arrived safely in the school about 5:20 am and we just chill there while waiting for the other students. First day is not bad, pretty much all paperwork..A LOT OF PAPERWORK lol! Then drug screen Rules and Regulations, policies of United States and Canada for trucking. Then we gotta do ton of assignment that can be found in the book. You need to get atleast 80% of that written test otherwise you will fail! That is part of the evaluation that you really need to pass. We did teamwork so everyone will pass.

Then lunch time at 12. I really enjoyed the lunch we had free lunch pork chop , green beans and potato. Got back in the class and continue that work assignment while the other staff tryna explain part of the contract.

Total of 46 students only 7 women and the rest its all men! LOL The drug screen took forever coz 50% of us need to redu the physical coz of the longform or uncheck box part of cdl application. If you dont have that one checked then you will redu your physical!

We all had fun in the first day. I was exhausted though for getting up early coz of my white rice hahaha!

05-03-2016

Second day the same thing, woke up very early to cook breakfast and catch the bus. Get to school and what I noticed is the class! We're down to 37 instead of 46 hahaha! Some student got sent home for some reason , maybe medical drug test? IDK.

We covered LOGS! Manual Paperlogs! Our instructor is really nice. You need to listen otherwise you will be out to the hallway hahaha! It's like a bootcamp! LOGS LOGS LOGS , TRIP PLANING and continue our paperwork ( assignment worksheet )..

Then the two staff came in and let us sign our contract worth $3,900 with out the housing no interest. If you have housing then you will add additional $500 to it still no interest. We run out of time and wasn't able to cover the mapping..So what he did he gave it as an assignment.

Also they told us the information to where we are going to take our actual driving to get the CDL. I'm from state of Oklahoma so I will stay in the academy to take my actual driving test . They will then upload the result to DMV database so I will need to go home and get the hardcopy to Oklahoma. By that time I will be ready for the orientation. You will know also when is your last day of school! My last day will be on 21st if I don't get dismiss haha! Class went pretty well and so much fun! I am very impressed on how they teach us so I don't understand where did they get those negative comments all over the internet!! Even though we have a huge class still he was able to handle us. SWIFT is awesome!

Tomorrow we will do range! Class will only be two days , the rest of the days it gonna be full range!!! Basic Controls and Daily Evaluation.. Straight backing! I am very very excited to be out the field and try the truck haha!

So that's pretty much it guys. We're just chillin here in the hotel and getting our energy back for the range tom!

I will keep ya all posted! :)

Flatie, I've made contact with "Lemmy_Lives" who's already in school & staying at the hotel. I'll try to stop by the Holiday Inn for a few minutes on Fridays or Saturdays when I get in.

Send me your cell phone # to me if you want to meet in the lobby. Last Monday morning (4:30am) I took Lemmy and his roommate out to my truck for my pre-trip. Then they walked over to the school.

So what box on the DOT from needs to be checked to keep me from retaking the exam?

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

Glad to hear you're having fun so far! Keep the updates coming but remember, school comes first. Good luck!

And kudos to you Errol. Taking time outside of the forum to help students is mighty impressive. Much respect, sir.

Good going Flatie, I just finished my first week. Traveled to Drumright Tuesday, staying in the Drumright House. I have three room mates. Two are scheduled to test Wednesday. Even after passing the test there is an additional seven days for otr with loaded trailers and two nights of night driving. With successful completion, I'm told we will qualify for positions that require several months otr experience. Hopefully thirteen training days I'll have that hard copy cdl A class! Only two students to a truck, and we don't share the truck with any other students. Hours are 0700 to 1630, Wednesday until yesterday only class room. Then yesterday we got to meet out truck. Spent about an hour getting in and out, starting the engine, doing a break check without a tug. Monday we start pre-trip and will do one everyday. We will be in that truck all day every day as a team. One driving while one observes. Keep these updates coming!
