OK, end of week three.
My background in trucking and bus driving has really helped me here. I went to test last Thursday. One day before I was scheduled to even graduate. I was as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.
I didn't pass. The blindside parallel parking kicked my arse. Yes, they are totally overworked with being understaffed, under equipped and the total number of students, but they do a great job with what they have. Things have improved a lot since I have been here.
I have said it before and I will say it again. This is a new school and they are having growing pains. They are learning and getting better, but they have a ways to go.
I am really proud of what I have done here. Everyone is great and so friendly. Even the instructors have told me how well I am doing. They have told me that they know I know my stuff, I just need a little more practice with my backing.
The blindside parallel parking is tough. But I will get it. They are sending me again the beginning of next week to test again.
My second on the road drive, my instructor told the other instructors I would have passed the road test my second day driving. He has never had a student do that well. And he has been teaching for almost 16 years.
Everything is looking up. I will get it the next time. Then I go back to Celadon for two more weeks. Then on the open road. Everyone watch out when I get on the road out there.

Hey, totally don't sweat it. Just get out there next time and nail it - and I'm sure you will!
Hey Joe!
Just wanted to see what happened with you since your last post. I remembered you are with Celadon and wondered how things are going for you!

Well I passed all my tests. On the road with a trainer. End of my first week. Things are going great. Great trainer. The only down side so far was the waiting.
Third haul they sent us to OK. We were down for 3 days because of no freight. Finally they dead headed us to TX for a load. Setting now waiting to pick up. Then to Laredo to drop.
I have been posting in the other forum now that I am out of school.

JOE S. I SIGHNED UP FOR CELEDON TRUCKING SCHOOL -QUALITY DRIVERS 2/17/14 START DATE GOT TO INDIANAPOLIS IN GREYHOUND BUS TERMINAL WAS A 21 HOUR TRIP 2 DIFFERENT BUSES TO SWITCH TO.THIS WAS FOR TEAM DRIVER TRAINING SCHOOL.UNFORTUNETLY AFTER ARRIVING I PURCHASED A TICKET TO RETURN HOME 2ND THOUGHTS OF BEING A TEAM DRIVER,COULDNT SLEEP ON BUS TO MUCH DISSTRACTIONS/NOISY/BUMPY I DIDNT THINK I COULD DO TEAM DRIVER, I REALLY WANTED SOLO BUT 9/16/13 WAS THE LAST DATE LINDSAY DUKE ( RECRUITER SAID ) SORRY LINDSAY, AND SCOTT VOGEL.
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
Ok. So ive been at quality drivers for almost 3 weeks now. I have experienced the exact same thing this place is very unorganized and its now 2 years into its opening. The only difference now is the 50 dollar gift card thing has stopped due to ppl cashing in for liquor and ruining the hotels. The dorms are built and ready but there are still ppl all over town in hotels. I have no experience on even shifting so ill be here awhile. I have a long road but anyone coming here with no experience is not a good idea. Id like to know is it worth the hassel?
Yes, it is worth it. Some things that have been mentioned as cons, I would consider pros.
The fact that they allow the students to learn at their own pace is a pro for me. I know someone whom they gave 4 months time and long as they see a progress. Other companies send you home very quickly and they you can't pay your bills either.
I think that Quality Drivers is not responsible or liable for the expenses of the students at home.
They may not pay you, but they at least try to reduce your costs. At other schools you have to pay for food and other things. Here you don't have many costs.
I try see everything positive anyways, even it is in fact negative.
I wished that there were someone who attended the school in Laredo, TX. I would like to learn about that school, too.
Question: Do you have to drive team for at least one year?

Thanks Old School and everyone for the up lifting words. I have little doubt about making it through the training and finally getting my CDLs. It is just the worry about money.
As I posted. My wife and I discussed all of this before I came to school and we figured we could afford three or four weeks with one paycheck. But 6 or more is a totally different story.
Like I said, we are making it right now. We are taking one day at a time.
I know I have everyone's best wishes and that helps a lot. I am looking forward to getting my own truck and getting out there on the road.
