Your permit should be good for 6 months. Full pass on DOT physical is 2 years, however you'll be required to retake that when you are employed as a driver.. on your new company's dime, of course.

Pretty sure it depends on the state. I think NJ was 6 months.... but I think my MO one was almost a year???
I got my done about 2 and 1/2 weeks before starting school. Shouldn't be a problem at all.
How long are CDL permits usually valid for? I was thinking I'd like to get it and my DOT physical done a week before I start school. Do you think this would be a problem?

Here in UT it is good for six months, the caveat is that you can not take skills/road test for 14 days after you earn your CDLP.

KY is 6 months also, and you are not eligible for the skills/road test for 14 days.
Thanks for the responses! I am from Florida and the man at the tax collector/dmv couldn't tell me if FL even HAD a permit! I also messaged a driver on here but he has yet to get back to me (he is settling into his new place of employment so no worries). It's good to know 6 months seems to be the length.
