Matt I have driven most of that area, in the dark. Can't say anything jumped out at me, as being bad. If anything down shift and take it a little slower if need be. There is some grate veiws out there, enjoy.
Heading into Logan in the morning from Wyoming. Company routing is taking us-30 to wy-89 to ut-30, and I've verified this is a legal route with the motor atlas. Is it advisable to take this route loaded?
I'm concerned about grades and switchbacks, I know I-80 to I-84 up I-15 is a good route into Logan but it's 40 miles longer.
If anyone is familiar with the route I'd appreciate it. if it's pretty hairy I might just wait till I can run it empty to see Bear Lake.
i can tell you, the route is very nice.. I found it to be very scenic and purrrty...
now if you feel un safe about taking it, then do the 80/84/15 run. Personally, Id take it just for the adventure. but safety is key
Thanks fellas, not too bad of a drive. I'd hesitate to do it in a blizzard though!
Nice view after all the snow in Wyoming yesterday.
I did US 30 to 80 thru Idaho into wy... in the dark... in heavy snow.. it was ok.. but as soon as I got to the flying j I parked for 2 hours til the sun came up.
There's a weigh station on 30 without prepass.. it wasn't plowed at all and the trucks just made their own way. I think that was my worst part... cause I kept imagining sliding into the trucks in line. Almost stopped there but again.. it wasn't plowed at all
Haha I was just getting on TT to ask about this same route when I saw your thread! I saw it was legal in my atlas but I have been hesitant to take it. I took it Eastbound into WY yesterday. There's a sign near the beginning that says "motorist restricted route," so I couldn't figure out if I was OK to be there or not!
