I'm strictly western 11, I have had to chain over Donner Pass twice since December

England made us watch an aweful video about Donners pass. I do like telling people the story of Donners pass and the Donner party. Alot of people accually dont know about the Donner party. Its not trucking, but its history and I love history.

The part about that video of Donner I don't understand is why did he wait till it was goin over to hit the breaks ,and I've been over that dang thing a few times its not a bad hill pass ya just got to watch ur speed/rpm's its a suttle downhill but it will sneak up on ya.its not like east coast where ya fall to the center of the earth.

TWIC:

Transportation Worker Identification Credential

Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.

Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

What bugs me is the 55 speed limit. I'm not a speed junkie, I can't be - I'm governed at 62. But I had to repower a load from donners pass to CA and I was soo tight on time. It was either go 55 and be late or go over the speed limit and not be late but risk a ticket and csa points. That's my fuss with my home state.

I absolutely hated that. Going 62 isn't that much of a difference either, but it's better than 55. Oregon and California I didn't like driving through just for that reason. But the scenery is gorgeous in Oregon, especially in the Portland area. Had I not got lost through there looking for the Del Monte factory, I wouldn't have known. And what's up with all the Oregon drivers just hanging out in the slow lane? They just use the fast lane to pass, then they all bunch up in the slow lane again.
