Hi, I am considering getting my cdl and have opted to (maybe) attend The Truck Driver Institute in Sanford, Fl. Anyone have any advice or comments, good or bad, regarding this private school? I have spoken with their rep. Nice guy but I also realize it's his job to recruit. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Just be careful of what they say and promise. Look into the school, it is easy with the internet these days. It is best to go through a school that is sponsored by an actual business.
