This bridge is literally 5 minutes down the road from my house. Over the years, I can recall at least a half dozen trucks or so hitting the bridge. Those are just the ones that i personally heard of.
Most trucks swing it real wide into the opposing lane, where the clearance is much higher.
The town even widened the road some years back to help accommodate the trucks making the wide swing. But inevitably someone forgets to look up.
I'm sure this is a stupid question. With so many bridge strikes on that particular bridge, it is clearly marked and with proper and visible signage isn't it???

Who said drivers (large and small vehicles) always read every sign that's on the road? Did this driver miss the signs?

You could have a sign that says "You are going to hit this bridge and ruin your career" and they would still driver right under it.
Hahahahha. Omg!!!!
I got directions yesterday with a bridge that said 9ft.... I was like wtf? 5hank go's I didn't run it at night cause it was an old little sign and although I'm SURE I would have said no way... I would have had to back up to a 90 in the dark to get back on road
Taken from 2014 and 2012, respectively. Same trestle.
I haven't been by there in a while, so I'm not sure if there is additional signage further up the road. You'd think they would have big flashing lights, after so many hits.
But as was mentioned, someone would still hit it.

I think the police chief said it best on this one...
