I can't remember specifically how long it took. I did it mostly at night and during the day on breaks. The course is quite lengthy, but absolutely worth it in my opinion.
It was great to see that 100% completion. However, I plan to do it all over again prior to starting school.
There are some sections of the program that won't be needed for a permit I believe, such as logbook , cargo securement etc. But the info is invaluable for a greater knowledge.
Someone else more knowledgeable will chime in as to the right sections to study for now
A written or electronic record of a driver's duty status which must be maintained at all times. The driver records the amount of time spent driving, on-duty not driving, in the sleeper berth, or off duty. The enforcement of the Hours Of Service Rules (HOS) are based upon the entries put in a driver's logbook.
For the permit I'm pretty sure you only need the first 6 sections, minus the passenger section. It's about 50 pages all together.
Here's how our High Road Training Program breaks down.
A pre-trip inspection is a thorough inspection of the truck completed before driving for the first time each day.
Federal and state laws require that drivers inspect their vehicles. Federal and state inspectors also may inspect your vehicles. If they judge a vehicle to be unsafe, they will put it “out of service” until it is repaired.

A vehicle with two separate parts - the power unit (tractor) and the trailer. Tractor-trailers are considered combination vehicles.
Refers to pulling two trailers at the same time, otherwise known as "pups" or "pup trailers" because they're only about 28 feet long. However there are some states that allow doubles that are each 48 feet in length.
I just wanted to ask this since I'm prepping for my CDL schooling in late June, and I'm needing my permit.
I've spent nearly 8 hours so far studying and testing. I'm wondering how much more I'll need to study since I'm only 20% done, and I just finished the Driving Safely section. It's been 2 weeks since I began, working a lot too.
I actually didn't think there was so much information. I like school, I enjoy studying, but I don't wish to put myself in a corner by not being ready. How long might it take to go through the High Road training program?
I went through it in a few days and got the endorsements for double/triples and tanker too, but I wasn't working and I rushed through it cause I really needed a job. I still passed everything with good scores first try and did great in school. The way Brett set up the questions to repeat constantly, all you have to do is read every page and answer the questions and you will pass no problem.

I didn't finish the whole section but still passed the test with no problem. I used 3 websites though including TT. It's worth it!
